INTRODUCTION
December 23, 2010, was the day the historic Highgate United Church began a new life since ceasing to be a place of worship in June 2010. Named to honour one of the founders of the Highgate community, Mary Webb Gosnell, The Mary Webb Cultural and Community Centre will be a venue for entertainment, presentations, education, cultural and community activities.
A group of volunteers in the community has purchased the heritage church and is undertaking an adaptive re-use project that will see this beautiful 100 year old heritage structure host high profile music concerts, art and artisan exhibitions and sales, cultural events as well as a place to gather for members of the local and broader community. This unique rounded building with a stained glass domed ceiling, inclined floor with curved pews and incredible acoustics has already seen a very successful photography exhibitions and a dozen musical events take place in 2010/2011.

GET INVOLVED
Like all community groups, we are a volunteer organization. Everything we do depends on you, members of the greater community, to come out and help make and keep the Mary Webb Centre going strong. We are several years away from having paid staff, so get in on the ground floor now.
We are on the cusp of significant change that will allow The Mary Webb Centre to increase programming. We cannot do it without new volunteers, ones who can commit on average 3 hours per week for a year or two.
OPENINGS CURRENTLY AVAILABLE
ASSISTANT ROADIE: Interested in setting up sound and lighting equipment? Working through pre-show rehearsals and during concerts? Shlepping equipment up and down stairs? Meeting really interesting musicians? Peter Garapick is looking for help. Reward? - get to attend a super concert once a month in return for a 12 hour day.
MARKETING COMMITTEE: The committee needs another member to help design our marketing program, place advertisements, run around with posters and so forth. It involves about one meeting per month and then emails and calls as needed. Contact Peter Garapick.
BOARD MEMBERS: Five volunteers will be elected to the Board of Directors in October 2012 for a 3-year term. Directors must be/become a member prior to serving on the Board. Please contact Marg Eberle, vice-chair of the Board, for information.
NOTE: much of our communications and business is conducted via e-mail, thus access to a computer and the internet is necessary.
Please apply to the appropriate director giving your background and how you can help.
